Camphor block – traditional self healing

Camphor is a waxy compound that can be produced naturally or synthetically. It can be white or transparent with a very strong aroma. It has been used for a long time as a traditional therapy and cooking. Many people use it to treat its healing abilities, and they often use some camphor for a variety of purposes, such as religious rituals and medicinal purposes.

It is extracted from the wood of the genus Cinnamomum camphora, a tree from Asia and Japan, especially from Borneo and Taiwan. There is also synthetic camphor made of turpentine.

Solid camphor blocks have many uses. The rust-proof properties allow it to be used in toolboxes to prevent rusting of the tool as the released fumes form a rust-proof coating.

In medicine, it is used to prevent colds, so it is very effective as a cough suppressant and a local analgesic. For a long time, it was used on a rope around the neck, near the chest of the chest or under the pillow while sleeping. It is absorbed through the skin and has a cooling effect such as menthol, which acts as an anesthetic and antibacterial.

Due to its strong odor, the camphor block is also used as an insect or an anti-caries agent. Add tiny crystals to the insect collection to prevent other insects from damaging it.

For religious ceremonies or spiritual purposes, it burns like a candle. It does not leave residues such as ash, but the amount of carbon deposited is high, so it is not recommended to burn in large quantities indoors.

It is not recommended for use in children, otherwise it may cause poisoning. Be careful at the dose level because synthetic camphor blocks may be toxic to higher amounts.
