In the modern world, there is confusion about the role of sex in spirituality. Most of the time, religion tends to be the opposite of propaganda and spirituality. Sex is about happiness, and spirituality is about pain. Nothing will be far from the truth.
The universe operates on at least two levels. One – our senses and another – an invisible level, is called ' Spirit '. These levels are also contradictory in nature. One is visible, it is also factual, and the other is invisible, feeling or experiencing. There are other paradoxes in nature. The paradox of life and death, day and night, hot and cold are well known in daily life. The choice between contradictions is a cause for confusion. When human beings become confused, he or she will find answers in spirituality. Accepting all public opinion is the reason why one person is more spiritual than anyone else.
Sex and spirituality are such contradictory themes. They are necessary for a fulfilling life. One is the physical level and the other is the experience level. Do they affect each other? Yes, they do it. Accepting both of them at the same time is the reason why people are smarter. The common factor in both is that they can relax the body and mind. In addition to giving happiness, sex is a reproductive behavior that also helps individuals develop intimate relationships. Meditation gathers people on an invisible level and in a spiritual way. Sex and meditation can lead to a reduction in physical and nervous tension.
In my practice, I meet very nervous people every day. Many of them suffer from depression, anxiety and other mental illnesses. In most people, sexual desire is reduced. The reason is that their nervous system is in a state of long-term excitation. It didn't get any rest because the person was on the go most of the time.
When they start regular meditation or any simple breathing exercise, their sexual desire will temporarily increase. Then they experienced the waxing and weakening of the drive. As their emotional distress decreases, their libido becomes more stable. As meditation increases, their physical needs, including appetite, require exercise and consumption habits to become stable. People who are addicted to sex will sooner or later notice their loss of libido.
As meditation increases, so does the individual's sexual needs and libido. This does not mean that their sexual relationship is broken or destroyed. Their requirements for partners are not high. If they don't have a partner, they realize that they don't need to be sexually active to lead a completely normal life.
It is precisely because meditation reduces sexual desire that spiritual teachers in almost all cultures require singularity. Sexual behavior is not at the core of spirituality. In almost all religions, spiritual leaders are married. The pursuit of spirituality does not prevent sexual relations. In many cultures, sexual satisfaction is sometimes a prerequisite for a spiritual journey. According to some researchers, participants/doctors' nostrils breathe during orgasm and during meditation. It will happen no other time during the awake or sleep phase.
Through meditation, you can make your sex life healthier. Suppressing sexual desire is not a spiritual goal. Transcendence needs are the goal.
