The history of scuba diving is very interesting. Over time, many civilizations have conducted breath holding, also known as free diving. Evidence of early free diving was the discovery of ancient photographs of sea and divers on land. These civilizations use free diving spearfish and competitions. The ancient Greeks were known as free divers. They use free diving to find sponges and troops.
Some early attempts in scuba diving history used air diving, including the use of hollow reed snorkeling, the use of inflatable bags and diving bells. The diving bell is a watertight chamber on the cable. The diving bell is designed to remain filled with air while propelled underwater, allowing a small number of divers to transport.
