Scuba diving is on my list, and since I was near retirement in the summer of 2013, I think it's time to cross it out. When I took part in my first dive course, I quickly learned that many diving instructors said it was true – water is not the natural environment of mankind. So, I am a bit worried about completing this certification.
After doing some basic research on local diving teaching opportunities, I chose a dive shop in Salt Lake City, only 20 minutes drive from my home. The reason I chose them was because the owner Lori had a calming effect on my anxiety. She also suggested a coach who was almost the same age as me, which further reduced my fear.
I actively completed my academic work and completed a good pool training. Open water certification is done in the "inland waters" of salt water west of Salt Lake City. I have learned the basics and now I am a certified but still uncomfortable diver.
I know that I have to master these skills…
