Why swim?

When the community is worried about gangs and violence, I would like to invite you to participate in a local swimming competition. You can find about 100 young people to participate. On Friday afternoons or Saturday mornings, many young people still have many other places. Multiply it by multiple locations across the country.

Swimming is usually managed by the state swimming organization as part of a national program sponsored by the US Swimming [USS]. The USS is the organization responsible for supervising American amateur athletic swimming. As the national governing body of the campaign, USS is a member of the US Olympic Committee and the International Swimming Federation.

More than 20,000 volunteers are registered as non-athletes in the USS each year. Interested individuals donate their time, energy and expertise as officials, administrators, coaches and workers at all levels, from serving on national committees, to…
