In order to gain a place in the college track and field team, you must understand the facts and myths about college track and field recruitment. In the past few years, track and field sports have made a huge rebound, and many high school athletes are now seeking a runway at the university level. However, there are indeed some myths surrounding the recruitment of tracks that need to be discussed.

The unfortunate truth is that most of the advice you have heard or read actually does more harm than good for the next level of the runway. We will expose the following two most popular track recruitment myths.

Myth 1: If you are good enough, college track and field coaches will always find you.

This is absolutely false. If you are a good track and field athlete, the coach is likely to find you. However, if you are a good track and field athlete [good enough for some levels of college] but not very good, then the coach may never know your name or what you can do for their plan.
