Designing your physiotherapy floor can be an interesting project when you start or reshape your place.
Most gyms have hardwood or concrete floors that are unsafe and uncomfortable for those with physical limitations.
Here are some tips to help you design the most comfortable floor for physical therapy for yourself or your rehabilitation client.
Tip #1
The physiotherapy floor should be thick to absorb the effects of the fall. Patients who are recovering may occasionally fall and need a cushioning surface that prevents further injury.
One option is a rubber floor tile that is 3/8 inch, 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch thick. Choose a thicker density placed under the workbench and around other equipment to prevent serious damage from falling.
In the bathroom and the area where the customer may need to change clothes, if the customer accidentally falls, the rubber floor tiles will provide cushioning.
Tip #2
Use a rubber floor mat. Commercial therapy gym floor rubber pads have anti-slip properties. This helps prevent smooth spots on sweat and spills, which can easily lead to falls.
These mats are interlocking tiles that not only look great, but also provide security. The rubber pad is very easy to install and can be installed without adhesive. There are 5 standard colors: pure black, gray, blue, tan or red spots.
You can even design it yourself, because the tiles can use border tiles, and the center tiles can use corner tiles.
Tip #3
Design your floor to make it flow well. Place the rubber mat under and around all equipment while covering the walking area on a smooth surface such as wood or laminate flooring.
Lay the rubber floor tiles in the area where the floor treatment will be carried out. This provides the customer with a soft surface. Create a smooth transition from wooden flooring to rubber flooring, with the tiles gradually tilting upwards.
Tip #4
Treatment usually involves working with clients who are unstable or may have vision problems. Design your floor with unique color schemes to help them differentiate areas.
Use different colors to create a border around the exercise station. You can even print custom logos on rubber tiles. You can place these tiles in a prominent area.
Designing your physiotherapy rubber floor should take into account the needs and comfort of the people who will use the area. Safety and comfort will give your customers a better sense of security during recovery.
