The Carolina Spine&Neurosurgery Center [CSNC] has thriving spa therapies. It is one of the largest private neurosurgery and spine care centers in western North Carolina. CSNC is an independent part of the Mission hospital system and is the main reason why the hospital was rated as one of 101 spine care hospitals by the Becker Hospital.
CSNC's therapists understand the beneficial properties of water and use spa as a successful tool for patient rehabilitation, health and rehabilitation. Here's how they succeed.
The spa includes a heated [94 degree] treatment pool, independent performance area, 4 feet deep, 5 feet; and 6 feet. The pool produces a flow rate of 99 flow rates that provide safety to patients at all stages of recovery to safely improve mobility, balance and confidence.

What is the typical week of swimming pool time and schedule?
Our swimming pool is open from 7am to 7pm, 5 days a week. Patients are scheduled for a 45-minute period, and up to four can be scheduled at the same time, depending on the difficulty. Together we arrange "high water flow" patients.
Who do you have for a spa staff?
We have 5 therapists and 5 PTA employees. All PTAs work in the spa. I am currently the only arapist working in a swimming pool. Assess the patient and present a treatment plan to the physician. If approved, the PTA will follow the plan outlined by the therapist and check the required changes at least every 4-6 times.
How do you arrange a therapist?
Each PTA will work in the pool for half a day – morning or afternoon. This is rotated as planned by 5 PTAs. I see a complicated patient and the only one who works with the patient.
The PTA needs to be in the pool with the patient. We have a waterproof computer by the pool for writing notes, charging, and viewing the patient's medical history and doctor's notes.
How many patients have you scheduled in a course of treatment?
Depending on the patient's difficulty, we can see up to 4 patients every 45 minutes, but we leave it to the therapist to determine the number of arrangements.
How do you charge for a spa?
We charge in 15 minute increments and we have many different systems to maximize billing. But all insurance is different, and it's important to understand the specific parameters of each state, plan, and region.
Do you use the swimming pool in other ways?
We offer courses offered at specific block times in the pool. These group courses are very successful and generate additional income. They include Aqua Yoga and Tai Chi.
