Many people with stuttering/stuttering who receive intensive treatment courses to control their adverse reactions have good initial success. After one to two weeks of intensive treatment, they are usually very fluent. Many of these people are experiencing what we are recovering as a "Carry-Over Fluency." Carrying fluency is a trap.
Unless a concerted effort is made to maintain good fluency techniques during intensive treatment, this fluency of carry-on or control of stuttering after treatment usually disappears.
During the period of cardiac stuttering/stuttering, a concentrated retraining process leads to a clearer but basic neural pathway in the brain. There are neural pathways in our brains to control our speech, but for stutterers, our neural pathways tend to confuse other negative neuro/psychological stresses that often prevent us from speaking fluently. When speech rate is reduced and breathing is controlled, most smooth retraining techniques establish a solid rhythm phrase pause, phrase pause relationship.
This rhythmic slowing down of speech/breathing relationships, if practiced consistently, leads to wonderful control over fluency and often sees the disappearance of our stuttering behavior. This is because new neural pathways have been established in their basic form. That is to say, the new path is there, but it is still fragile at this early stage and exposed to the pre-existing negative perceptions that still exist in the minds of the oral. By continuing to use the superior techniques learned in therapy, stutterers can circumvent negative psychological thoughts and perceptions. This of course takes time, and consistency is key. All good stuttering treatment plans should also include reliable retraining in the cognitive field.
The more we stay fluent, the more exercises we use, the smoother we are. You will want to keep this state! The longer we remain fluent, the more capable we are. Positive things start to happen to us, including:
- Improved self-concept
- Improve self-confidence
- Speech expression improved
- The true personality shines
- Negative emotions have largely disappeared
- We listen more carefully
- We like talking
All of these things happen, and more often, as long as good fluency is always used. Don't let the feeling of smooth flow induce you to think that you have cured. We have no cure! The future faces challenges, but rest assured that many people around the world have adopted stuttering therapies and have achieved great success. No matter what smooth shaping therapy you use, you are the ultimate control person.
You can control your recovery, do what you have to do, become your boss, and take old stuttering habits. Walk with me to the fluent road.
